Anotácia: Prezentace si klade za cíl sestavení databáze přívalových povodní na Moravě a ve Slezsku v průběhu 19. a 20. století. Dále jejich časovou a prostorovou analýzu, synoptickou analýzu, hydrologickou analýzu a analýzu jejich doprovodných jevů a škod, které PP způsobily. Tzn. zjistit, zda se přívalové povodně dříve vyskytovaly a jak často a jaké škody způsobily a zda existují místa, kde se vyskytují více než jinde a proč tomu tak je a jakou roli či neroli v tom hraje člověk.

Exploring changing landscapes with dynamic visualizations and tangible interaction

Modern mapping technologies revolutionized 3D geospatial data acquisition, capturing the state of earth surface at increasingly higher temporal and spatial resolutions. In this lecture, we explore case studies where modelling and visualizations based on lidar and UAS data enhance our understanding of coastal landform dynamics, facilitate street level storm water runoff simulations, and provide critical information about flooded transportation infrastructure.

We will also discuss techniques for deriving 3D vegetation structure metrics and mapping locations of individual trees using multiple return lidar data. To facilitate intuitive 3D modelling and collaborative problem solving we introduce Immersive Tangible Landscape. This tangible interface for a geographic information system couples a physical and a digital model of a landscape with projected simulation feedback and realistic 3D rendering. Applications of the system for outreach and education activities including management of storm surge impacts, routing tasks during disasters, teaching topography and flow routing as well as landscape design highlight engaging approach to geospatial modelling accessible to children and researchers alike.

Helena’s biography: Helena is a Professor at the Department of Marine, Earth and Atmospheric Sciences and the Center for Geospatial Analytics, North Carolina State University in Raleigh, USA. As Associate Director of Geovisualization, she provides strategic leadership for the center’s research agenda, especially work that uses Tangible Landscape. Helena develops geospatial analytics to investigate coastal evolution, soil erosion control, natural hazards, and sustainable land management. Tangible geospatial modeling environments, dynamic simulations of landscape processes, and analyses of LiDAR time series data are some of the research frontiers she is advancing. Her interests also include Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) remote sensing and open source software development. Helena is a member of the OSGeo Foundation and the Open Source GRASS GIS Project Steering Committee, and is co-author of the first book on Open Source GRASS GIS. She has participated in the GRASS GIS development since 1991 and co-authored the first book on GRASS GIS. She is a member of editorial boards for Geomorphology and Computers & Geosciences. Helena has published over 80 publications demonstrating applications of GRASS GIS which are cited in more than 2500 works. She received her PhD from the Slovak Technical University, Bratislava.

Anotácia: 3D tisk se v posledních několika letech stal novým standardem pro práci s 3D daty. Můžeme nalézt nespočet aplikací a do každého oboru přináší 3D tisk inovativní možnosti a mění pravidla při tvorbě modelů. Poměrně novou, a ne zcela známou aplikační oblastí 3D tisku jsou geovědy.Technologie FDM (Fused Deposition Modelling) umožňuje výrobu nízkonákladových modelů zemského terénu, budov, 3D map i technických součástek s minimálními materiálními náklady.  Prezentace je zaměřena na zpracování dat, technické postupy a realizované 3D tisky. V prezentaci bude brát zřetel na případové studie včetně rekonstrukce zaniklých sídel, kostelů, tisk 3D modelů reliéfu a tyflomap.

Annotation:

In this presentation I will make a brief review of the current European borders and migration issues. Based mainly on my own research during the past years, I will discuss different topics related to the Morocco-Algeria border, the Bulgaria-Serbia border, the Bulgarian and Moroccan (circular) migration in Spain, the Georgian (skilled) migration, as well as selected topics concerning the current refugee crisis in Europe, by making an emphasis to the Bulgarian case.

Problems of interest related to the East Slovakia/Košice region and West Ukraine will be also discussed. Among them is the role of skilled migration for the economic, social and educational development at national and municipality levels, the cross-border cooperation, as well as the role of the migration on some economic and social problems, by focusing on the recent trend of mass emigration from Ukraine.
